Quiet and homely
What stands out from the start: it is family-run.
I admire people who have the courage to rethink things. That's why I found the new Cendevaves Alpine Silence on Monte Pana. In this original location, Birgit and Christian Stuffer have realised their vision: a small haven of peace where you can enjoy pure privacy. An exclusive retreat for all those who value the luxury of seclusion and peace as much as I do. How wonderful that their three sons also share their parents' passion and enrich it with their youthful energy.
An ongoing passion
If you live at the heart of the legendary Dolomites, you can't help but enjoy sporting activities. So it's hardly surprising that Birgit and Christian Stuffer always give me the best tips for experiences. They spend every free minute in nature and are enthusiastic runners. At an altitude of 1,650 metres, the conditions could not be better for preparing for the competitions in which they regularly take part.
Deep roots
The foundation stone for Cendevaves was laid by Anton Stuffer, Christian's father and one of 13 children at the Punteahof. Even as a child in the 1930s, he helped to look after the cattle on his own Cendevaves Alpine pasture. That is how Anton discovered his love for Monte Pana and he was convinced that this unique area could also attract guests. He came up with the idea of building the first T-bar lift and a restaurant, which opened in the winter of 1959. The first guest rooms were built the very next year. At the end of the 1960s, a few more beds were added and the Cendevaves was one of the first hotels in Val Gardena to have an indoor swimming pool. Mr. Stuffer senior can therefore rightly be described as one of the pioneers of Val Gardena tourism.
